We asked Tihana Hubicki, HR Director at Belupo, about the working atmosphere and relationships within Belupo, what Belupo offers its employees, and about how Belupo has managed to be the most sought-after employer in the labor market for a number of years.

- Belupo has been recognized in the labor market as the top Croatian pharmaceutical company having a successful business tradition of 48 years and providing career development opportunities to over 1500 employees in numerous markets. Quality, stability, job security, care for people, training opportunities, modern technology, an abundance of skills, a clear vision, and focus on business objectives and preservation of health – this is what makes Belupo distinctive in the labor market.

Belupo has managed to recruit the best and most capable people in the labor market and induce them in its business.

- Belupo fosters a pleasant organizational climate, a positive atmosphere where we are not afraid to try and succeed, trust, cooperation, and focus on learning and trends. We have our own manufacturing operations, new factories, tradition, experience and youth, focus on long-term relationships with all stakeholders, and a high level of social sensitivity – confirmed Tihana Hubicki and added that we have recorded high employment rates, expanded our business, and built a young team presently working at our new factories. We are looking for candidates who share Belupo’s values: excellence, passion, trust, customer satisfaction, and innovation.

- An ideal candidate is educated and highly motivated, strives to acquire new professional skills within his scope of interest, and identifies with our vision of becoming a leading pharmaceutical company in Central and Eastern Europe. The challenge posed by our recruitment activities is ongoing monitoring and setting of trends in the educational system and the labor market, while communication with candidates is now fast and direct – said HR Director who has hired over 400 new employees and been introduced to several thousands of candidates, underlining that we hire both candidates with extensive experience and those with no experience.

Our traineeship program helps young people gain their professional experience and become independent experts, with support of experienced mentors. She added that, as Director, she enjoys work relating to trainings, career development & planning, implementation of novelties and retention of experts, in addition to her hiring and induction activities.

- It is fantastic when I am able to help my coworkers come closer to their development targets and achievement of Belupo’s objectives – underlined Tihana Hubicki.

Numerous daily challenges, employee demands, and ambitions to be promoted fast and earn high salaries are nowadays a trend in many large corporations and among numerous employees. How does Belupo cope with such situations and how does it manage to motivate its employees day after day?

- We achieve remuneration competitiveness by keeping up to date with the relevant trends and reward our employees by paying them Christmas and Easter bonuses, annual leave benefits, by financing their training programs and providing incentives for extraordinary performance, by rewarding innovation in the achievement of professional objectives, and by providing numerous forms of nonfinancial incentives such as our structured traineeship & induction program for new employees, an individual approach to motivation and career planning, days off for training purposes, inclusion in our corporate system of knowledge dissemination, and a culture of praise and recognition of good performance – underlined HR Director and added that it is particularly important nowadays that Belupo supports maternity and starting of families through its generous employee benefits.

- 60% of our employees are women and we have a 15-year tradition of stimulating maternity by paying a maternity benefit of HRK 10,000. Since 2005, this motivational bonus has been paid over 270 times and we have enlarged Belupo’s family by an average of eighteen new members per year. This is a growing trend, so we plan to introduce a post-maternity induction program as an additional maternity stimulation measure.

A happy employee equals a successful company – this is the formula for success advocated by Belupo’s management.

- All these initiatives help our long-term success. We monitor global labor market trends and believe we will continue to develop, maintain and convey to our young employees this positive and stimulating culture focused on cooperation and balance. The success formula in our mission is: Let’s Stay Healthy Together! - concluded Tihana Hubicki, HR Director.
